• The triangle form appeared in my sculpture while I was developing my graduate work at SVA in 1998. I spent a lot of time analyzing and adjusting it as a base component for standing sculpture, and also used it as a primary form to configure a grouped piece called Flight Tribunal, which set nine vertical totems within a large V-formation. I was looking at bird formations and grouping within my own work as flocks, or tribes.
  • Later, I adjusted the triangle to its equilateral nature, and cut felt shapes which I secured to concrete bases. The triangle is so elemental, that even the cut-out felt remains interesting to me. I have exhibited this piece several times, including the accompanying drawings. I am continually drawn to it for its inherent mathematical and spiritual properties.
